Back to School Dinner 2013~

Just before school starts every year, we hold our annual back-to-school dinner.  It's our way of celebrating the end of summer and getting the kids excited for the new year.

So even though it wasn't as extravagant as it has been in the past, it was fun and that's what matters.

Using the Good Dishes~

This post is sponsored by Villeroy & Boch.

For many of us setting a table with the good dishes - with the fine china - only happens on special occasions.  We save them for holidays and parties.  Why is that?

Today, I wanted to share a few ideas on how to use the good dishes every day...

Take these pretty plates by Villeroy & Boch for example.  They are what one might consider fine china.  The company that makes them has been around since the 1800's and is known for its quality craftsmanship.  They aren't what I would consider everyday dishes.  But that doesn't mean that they can't be.

I gathered up a bunch of my everyday dishes to combine with the fancier plates.

And here are a few of the different place settings I came up with...

5 Laundry Room Tips & Tricks AND a $500 Home Depot Gift Card Giveaway!!

This post is sponsored by Home Depot and P&G

Last year I gave my laundry room a much needed facelift.   After all, when you're going to spend as much time in a space as most of us do in our laundry room...shouldn't that space be nice to look at?

But laundry rooms also need to be functional.  After all, their primary purpose is taking care of our clothes, right?  And after living with the space for a year, I decided that I definitely needed to make a couple of tweaks...
